Since 2010, the district has spent over $12,000,000 (so far) developing and implementing a Pay for Performance system (that voters actually turned down). The DCSD Board and admin said they wanted a way to identify the ineffective teachers. This extremely expensive system showed us that we had 9 (yes, 9) ineffective teachers. Meanwhile 256 teachers rated Effective and Highly Effective left their teaching positions.
While the district was spending tens of millions of dollars on a system that identified 9 teachers, severe cuts were being made to the classrooms which affect over 60,000 children.
Was it worth it?
