Dear Douglas County Voters,
There is much hype about many wonderful changes and reforms that have occurred in the Douglas County Schools in recent years, but those who have direct connections to the day-to-day operations in the schools see otherwise.
Teachers and parents are extremely unhappy about increased class sizes and decreased instructional time for students, lowered graduation requirements, lack of accurate budgeting and financial reporting, loss of community trust, low employee morale.
As a retired teacher, I have had time to read extensively, attend board of education meetings and talk with parents and teachers about their experiences in the schools. I urge all voters to become well-informed about the candidates and issues for the upcoming Douglas County School Board election.
