Read at Douglas County School Board Meeting public comment
July 16, 2013
The ongoing efforts by the Douglas County BoE to use bully tactics and propaganda to silence concerned parents and teachers continue.
Last night, an invitation-only gathering was held at a private residence for the purpose of providing information regarding the widely unpopular policies of the BoE. The invitation clearly stated that BoE members were excluded. Nevertheless, BoE member John Carson showed up and entered the house. He proceeded to confront people at the event, asking for names and threatening to present to the media that the group was silencing opposing voices. This is particularly ironic and hypocritical coming from a member of a publicly elected board who spends many hours in closed door sessions and has limited public comment at their meetings.
If people want to know your view they can listen to the many paid for robocalls and television commercials. Or even contact the Freidman Foundation to schedule a speaking engagement at their expense. But our voices are free and we will not allow you to silence them with your bully tactics.
In the future, please do not show up at a private house party unless specifically invited by the host. Particularly if the invitation states, “This is a private informational party and is not open to DC School Board members
